prefs file in the zip I linked to do overcome these problems, AFAIK. I have to agree with VinceEFX: we paid for this product, and it's quite absurd that we have to go through this half-baked rigmarole to get it to work. Again, it would take just a few minutes to put up a page with the correct drivers, a sensible preferences file and some instructions.

My ShuttlePro came with *no* documentation at all, and on the Lightworks website there is *nothing* on the subject.

Sony Vegas Pro even ships with a preference file for the Shuttle series of devices. Once you get use to the Jog and Shuttle wheels you’ll wonder how you ever edited without it too. There is no need for this nonsense - all you need is a short file with just the KB preferences, and it takes five minutes to edit that by hand. I have the Contour Designs ShuttlePRO v2 and I wouldn’t edit without it. The bad news is that, three months after I spent most of a day debugging this, interacted with Lightworks Support, and sent corrected files, the Preferences file *still* overwrites your preferences for *everything else* as well as the ShuttlePro, including filling your machine with huge amounts of dross referring to directory paths on a Customer Support machine that *you don't have* and which stop things working until you work out what is going on.

The goodish news is that the latest Contour driver does now have an entry for Editshare Lightworks that mainly works, although the shuttle *still* doesn't play at 1x speed in either direction, and it overrides some of the standard keyboard behaviour for no reason (it can be mapped to keys that don't interfere.)

There are images online that map the button numbers out. It's a while since I had to deal with this last, so I just did an install from cold on another computer. The buttons are numbered from left to right and from top to bottom with the two black buttons being 14 & 15. Since I am utilizing the Shuttle Pro with my left hand I initially configured the buttons in the following manner.ġ2: Clip in Project Bin (note this is likely the first button I may change) Customize your buttons and "Apply" then "OK". #Save this file and reboot the computer and the ShuttlePro v2 is available.Īfter I rebooted, I started Kdenlive and went to Settings -> Configure Kdenlive -> JogShuttle and refreshed the "Device name" which Contour Design ShuttlePro v2 device was then displayed. Sudo gpasswd -a your_user/login_name_here input This one from User asilnevs helped me to actually get it to work on my system.

Upon doing this it still did not work for so I proceeded to the next set of instruction below. Which should tell the device file to be entered into kdenlive's setting dialog: In the text field enter /dev/input/ event3 (use the last word on the line above to specify the device file in /dev/input), set the buttons and apply the changes. Obtain the device file by a commandįgrep Contour -A4 /proc/bus/input/devices The last line of the output says SUBSYSTEMS="usb", ATTRS="0030", MODE="0444" for Contour ShuttlePRO V2. An udev rule is necessary to correct the access rights to the device file: Create a file /etc/udev/rules.d/les with the line: Contour ShuttlePro and Contour ShuttleXpress are known to work.Įnsure that your Jog-Shuttle device is connected via USB and working. I first tried the following from Kdenlive's Menu SettingsĬonfigure a connected Jog-Shuttle device. However to save time I have included the two sets of instructions below for your convenience. There are a few posts there that will get you going. I found a solution at Kdenlive's help & KDE forum. Ok, I finally found a way to get my Contour Shuttle Pro V2 to work with openSUSE Leap 42.1 and Kdenlive.
